Changes on the horizon

Hello bunnies,

As always, I will start with apologizing for my lack of activity . The sweet siren song of Tumblr and the wonderfully interactive environment keep me faithful, as well, my life has been somewhat turbulent the last few months.

This weekend I have come down with a touch of a cold, and after a very slow-paced few days, I am reflective this evening.

I've been thinking quite a bit about my various online niches; this is something I'd like to elaborate on shortly, but first, I owe you all a small update.

As of August 24th I am officially no longer corporate-employed. This was an early birthday present, as I turned 26 years old on the 25th of August. After many years of office jobs and going through the motions, I was able to be honest with myself that it was not my calling. While I am thankful for the experience these jobs have given me, I am now quite happy to be going full steam in an entirely different direction: my own.

Firstly, I will be taking time for myself for a few months to prepare for this new road. I have my sights set on a fruitful entrepreneurial endeavor - however, first, I need to relax, reflect, and rebuild. I am lucky to be in a position that allows me to take some time "off", and I will be focusing on healing mentally and physically. My days have been and will be, filled with taking care of the small things you just "put off". Preserving those valuable memories in photo albums, finally reorganizing closets, get back to being more active, creating more healthy and economical meal plans, and working on various long-neglected hobbies. These things are important, and you truly forget about them when you are so very focused on just making it through another work week doing something that gives you no satisfaction.

So I return to my online footprint. As many of you know, I have various blogs and am active in different sectors of this wonderful blog-o-sphere. I use Tumbrl primarily, as I mentioned earlier, because of the intimate atmosphere, which allows me to interact with my readers. I love the fat fashion and body-acceptance circles, as well as the passionate feminist movement, the vintage lifestyler sharing, and being able to satiate my love for geeky internet memes and random photos. I use twitter hand in hand with Tumblr, and sadly, neglect my Blogger accounts, and as a result- Fat Glam Kitchen ( since FGK content feeds directly from a blogger account of mine).

My current personal project is finding a happy middle-ground. The thousands of followers I have are spread out over various social media platforms, and I think consolidating into one area is my best bet. This brings about all sorts of questions, specifically: Which platform?

So, my dear readers, I am cross-posting this to all of my social media. I need advice! I'm on the fence between combining my personal blog and Fat Glam Kitchen to contain all of my fat fashion as well as cooking. However, I also like the idea of being able to keep two passionate but separate spaces- one devoted to my cooking, and one to my fat fashion and personal life.

Before I sign off for another evening, I'd like to thank each and every one of you- from my unbelievably wonderful partner, my supportive parents, my loving friends, to those on Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, Fat Glam Kitchen, Etsy, Blogger and beyond, for your support, your kind messages, your witty comments, and your powerful emails, the coffee dates, the nights-off from cooking.... To my many social-media-friends- the interaction I get from you all is truly touching, and I am so honored to call many of you new friends.

I will ask for your continued patience in coming days or weeks as I streamline my online footprint, and I appreciate any messages or comments you may have.

Here's to exciting new things my darling bunnies,

xox Lenora

Shameless Plug- Le Noire Vintage and Hairflowers on Etsy

Hello bunnies,

Due to popular demand, I`ve now begun to list my quality hand-crafted hair flowers in my Etsy shop, along side my vintage clothing.

My hair flowers are all made with high quality flowers (some plastinated for extra longevity and look natural and realistic)

To all you vintage-loving ladies, my stock is low at the moment, but I have a few amazing gems I`m sitting on, soon to post. One being an UNBELIEVABLE 1950s gown with gold lamee with a 30 inch waist. I usually specialize in plus-sized vintage but I couldn`t resist this gown!!

Coastal antiquing adventures

Today Nick and I drove out to the coast- Bouctouche to be exact- and we happened across this amazing antique shop.

The couple who own this place are living my dream. They have a beautiful property with a huge garden, an antique shop, and the ship building is the husband’s wood working shop. Isn’t this just amazing? We became friends instantly, and bonded over our love of vintage hats- she has over 300! I also fell in love with her shop kitty who had his own little wicker throne and basked in the sun.

I picked up these few gems, my favorite being the adorable peach and brown pillbox with the feather. Also, that wicker purse? From 1940s occupied British Japan. For $12 (great deal she gave me because I bought so many hats)

We exchanged business cards, and I will be helping her start up an Etsy shop. She has so many things, at amazing prices, that would sell so fantastically.

Her husband is this funny old hippie who is a local legend, who makes amazing wood art and has story-telling afternoons in the ship. The walls of his workshop are covered floor to ceiling in newspaper articles about him , his wife and their business and adventures over the decades, as well as photos of his inspirations, his wife and children… just their entire amazing life…. I was so in awe.

Long story short, this was a very beautiful experience all around. If you are in the area, check them out.

Hot summer afternoon- exposed luscious flesh, and 1st totally handmade garment

Hello my darling!

I've been neglecting this blog, my apologies. Things are going full-force over at www.fatglamkitchen.com, I've been devoting most of my time to cooking up a storm and sharing it with the world.

Not much is new besides fitting in some thrifting when I can, and getting outside as much as possible. Today is one of the warmest days we've had this year, and I dressed appropriately.

I thought I'd share my outfit today, not only because I love it, but it was wonderfully empowering to go out in public with my midriff exposed. Yes, fatgirls can wear tummy-tops, too. Suck on that, haters.

Also, I'm proud to say I made the skirt myself, from vintage 1950s fabric I scored from an antique shop for $10/a bolt, sewn with a slightly altered vintage pattern. It was the first garment I've made 100% from scratch, while it isn't perfect, I'm very happy with it!

My hat is vintage , which I embellished myself with lots of flowers to cover a hole. Make do and Mend!

Happy Summer, everyone!

Lenora- In PRINT!

My darling bunnies!

I'm so thrilled to share this with you- today I was featured in our local newspaper!

..."I'm saying, have the body you're comfortable having, enjoy it, make the most of it, be passionate and eat great food. Live your life. Who cares if you're not a sample size. My blog is very political in that sense. I'm not just cooking, I'm breaking convention about what good food can be and what fat people are and can be."

Thank you so much to the lovely Victoria Handysides for the wonderful interview!

Go click on over to www.fatglamkitchen.com to read whats been cooking!
